Add Live Chat

Live chat has now superseded the Acorn Aid widget.

Live chat enables you to talk to your visitors in real time and quickly resolve any immediate queries.

If you are offline the live chat will continue to be available and will accept quick messages from your visitors.

Enable live chat by following the steps below

  1. Log into your admin http://www.yourdomain.com/acornaid/admin/
  2. Click on Menu
  3. Go to Settings > Live Chat
  4. Click Enable Live Chat
  5. Enter the allowed agent idle time in minutes
This is time before an agent can remain idle before being set to a chat status of offline

Add the Live Chat tab to your web pages

Include the following lines of code in your web pages to add live chat to any of your web pages.

<script src="http://www.yourdomain.com/acornaid/chat/aa-chat.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

<div id="aa-widget"></div>

An example can be found on index.php in the chat folder.

Go Online or Offline

As an agent you will need to indicate your chat status each time you log in.

With live chat enabled you will see a chat icon beside the menu icon. This will either be red for offline or green for online.

Go online by following these steps

  1. Click the chat icon
  2. Click Go Online

The icon will go green

Go offline by following these steps

  1. Click the chat icon
  2. Click Go Offline

The icon will go red
